Why I Started Making
My Own Trousers

I've told you before that I was born in Minsk, and I remember, a long time ago, my friends and I couldn't find trousers we actually wanted to wear. Back then, everything available was poorly designed. A friend of mine gave me the contact of a tailor, and that's how my first pair of trousers came to life — unique, unlike anything else. I loved them, and I wore them with real pride.

Guess what colour they were? Right, black. People learn from their mistakes, so don't repeat mine — start with navy blue at the very least. But that's not really the point.

The First Course That
Changed Everything

I wouldn't call that the beginning of my tailoring story. I'd say my path truly began in 2018, when, right after the winter edition of Pitti Uomo, I finally signed up for a men's suit-making course. I'd been putting it off for a long time, and after that trip, I finally made the decision.

My first class was tough. I understood nothing. The instructors assumed the group already had some background, and I was the only one who didn't — everyone else seemed to know what they were doing. I wouldn't say the course itself taught me everything. It was more of a strong push, a sense of responsibility to actually do this. Everything else came from practice.

My Second Pair of Trousers

By the end of the course, I came in for my final fitting right before the next Pitti Uomo — the summer edition this time. I asked the instructors not to be too hard on me and just take a look at what I'd made. Alongside the main trousers from the course, I'd also been secretly sewing a second pair, in cream.

That was quite an adventure on its own. My aunt had given me an old sewing machine, and to make it in time, I woke up at dawn every day for a month to sew. You should have heard how loud that machine was — sewing at five in the morning felt almost painful, and every time I was sure the neighbors were about to come knocking.

I headed to my second-ever Pitti Uomo with two new pairs of trousers I'd made entirely myself. I won't say it was easy. But then again, what ever comes easy the first time? Nothing does.

From Personal Practice
to First Client Orders

After that, I upgraded to a proper sewing machine, and with the help of YouTube tutorials and advice from other tailors, I started making trousers for myself. It became a kind of meditation for me. I'd come home from work, put on a podcast, and spend two happy hours sewing a new pair.

And, as these things tend to go, friends started asking where I got trousers like that, wanting a pair for themselves. That's how I took my first orders. I'll be honest — there's a huge difference between sewing for yourself and sewing for someone else. The responsibility and the pressure are on a different level entirely.

My friends were happy with the results, and soon their friends started coming too. That's when I realized: if I wanted to grow, I needed to find tailors who could create pieces for our clients. I found them, and we started working together.

Beyond Trousers:
Building a Custom-Made Wardrobe

Trousers, of course, are just one part of what we create today. For years now, we've been making not only trousers, but shirts, jackets, suits, coats, and more.

My philosophy has never been to make an ordinary suit, but something new and distinctive. Take our trousers, for example — the depth of the pleats, their direction, the shape of the pockets, all these small details matter. Our iconic short jacket has become a real favourite of yours, and we get wonderful feedback on it. Our shirts, with the collar style we tested extensively, are now quite popular, and our clients love them.

This summer, we also introduced a new safari jacket as an alternative to the classic blazer — it carries the same signature details, like the distinctive pocket design. The raglan coat you've come to love — all these details come together to create the exact style that reflects who you are. These are pieces made with heart and handwork. Every one of our garments carries enough handmade detail to make it truly one of a kind.

What I Learned From
the Best in Bespoke Tailoring

This experience taught me to understand everything from the ground up. I can speak easily with tailors and explain exactly what I need. I've refined every single detail I want to see in our pieces — every nuance, every measurement. That experience helped me find the right balance, and it's also what makes it easy for me to talk with you, explain things clearly, and ask the right questions.

And most importantly — the experience I gained along the way, which was considerable, since I had the privilege of receiving advice and guidance from some of the best tailors and experts in bespoke craftsmanship.

One of the most important lessons I learned was in Naples, visiting one of the most renowned ateliers in men's tailoring. Thank you, Antonio Panico, for showing me that — and I'll continue to stay true to that path.
