Our client had spent years wearing ready-to-wear clothing — and with it, a familiar list of problems that never quite went away. Shirts too wide across the chest, or too narrow. A collar that fits the neck but leaves the sleeves too short. Trousers that sit well at the waist but pull across the hips. Small discomforts, one by one. The kind you learn to live with — until you wear something made to measure for the first time.
We started, as we always do, with a conversation. Every detail, every frustration, every habit. That is the foundation of bespoke tailoring: before anything is cut, we need to understand how a person lives in their clothes and what gets in the way.
The Shirts
For this client, we made two bespoke shirts. They were cut with a long collar that sits cleanly beneath a jacket lapel, following its line without interruption — no visual break, no added bulk. It is a detail that matters most to those who wear a shirt under a jacket regularly: the silhouette stays coherent, the proportions hold.
The sleeves are the length they should be. The chest is fitted without pulling. These are things ready-to-wear promises and rarely delivers — because they require knowing your body, not a size on a label.
The Trousers
The trousers were cut in fine wool — light enough for warm weather, structured enough to hold its shape through a full day. High rise, double forward pleats, side adjusters. Our standard, because we believe it is simply the right way to cut a trouser.
The high rise keeps the shirt tucked and the silhouette long. The pleats give room where room is needed — across the thigh and seat — without the trousers appearing wide when standing still. The side adjusters replace the belt entirely, keeping the waistband flat and the front uninterrupted.
A trouser that fits correctly does not need to be adjusted. You put it on, and it stays where it should.
The result was a wardrobe that fits the way clothing should — and pieces that work with what the client already owns, not against it. That is what made-to-measure actually means: not luxury for its own sake, but clothing that no longer gets in the way.
